Cheap-ass Mofos Amber Ale

Christmas 2009

We are all cheap-ass mofos.


grist:
12 lbs Rahr 2-row pale
4 lbs German Munich
1.25 lbs Caramel 60L
8 oz Caramel 80L
2 oz Chocolate malt

single infusion mash: 154/168

kettle additions:
1.5 oz Centennial whole 60"
1 oz Willamette whole 15"
1 oz Centennial whole 15"
2 x Whirlfloc tablets 15"

yeast:
A - Wyeast 1332
B - Wyeast 1056

fermentation and stuff:
7 days at 65F
21 days at 55F
keg, force carb, imbibe

Dark garnet, khaki head, clear; nose is fruit in caramel sauce over hops. Hop profile (a blend of citrus and earth) more pronounced in B; more caramel in flavor (lots more in A) with a roasted twist, finishes clean.
